Athletic Requirements
The program is open to players of advanced skill levels, male (grades 8-10) and female (grades 8-10). The students must be keen to improve their individual game and to maximize their own potential.
Academic Requirements & Support
Students must remain in good academic standing as discussed with each parent/guardian prior to beginning the program. Academic integrity protected as PE/Health Education learning outcomes are overseen and evaluated by EMS teaching staff. Credit for Independent Directed Studies projects will also be overseen and evaluated by EMS teaching staff. Educational support provided for all academic areas. Academic success is a priority and an essential aspect in our planning.
The Earl Marriott Secondary Principal, Counseling Department and P.E. Department are all partners in the Skills Academy program.

Tanner Murray
SD 36 Teacher and Program Coordinator
On ice training, fitness training and credited course content instruction will be conducted under the supervision of EMS Teacher, Tanner Murray. Tanner holds a Degree in Education from the University of
Alberta and an Associate Diploma in Kinesiology. He has worked in the Surrey School District as a Physical Education Instructor and Learning Support Teacher for 10 years. With this experience, he has developed a special skill set for teaching student athletes how to achieve athletic and academic success. This will be Tanner’s sixth year coordinating the EMS Hockey Programs.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
All applicants must submit the following electronically. Remember to "save as" once you open the PDF application form (computer access may be required to properly complete PDF document) :

· Program Contract
Registration begins October 21, 2019 and closes February 15, 2020. Returning students must reapply to the Hockey Academy every year.
Completed Application Form, Medical Form, and Contract must be submitted via email to Tanner Murray at murray_t@surreyschools.ca
You will receive an email confirming that EMS has processed your completed application within a week.
Selection for the Hockey Academy
Priority 1 - Returning students
Priority 2 - Waitlisted players from previous year
Priority 3 - Lottery for remaining players
Note: Those players not selected via lottery will be placed on a waitlist.

High Performance Hockey Skills Academy
Total cost for the 5 month Hockey Academy program is $2,000.00.
PAYMENTS
September 1, 2020 - down payment $500.00
February 15, 2021 - 1st installment $750.00
April 15, 2021- 2nd installment $750.00
